Killzone 2 Multiplayer Video: Dudes Talking
The multiplayer component of Guerilla Games' shooter is a class-based affair. Servers will support up to 32 players, with each side of 16 further broken up into squads of four.
Killzone 2 is set to arrive next February on PlayStation 3.

The teamwork they show here is entirely unrealistic.
It's usually just one guy on a team of 10 yelling, "Yo. Doesn't anyone else hear have a mic? Seriously, your fucking system comes with a FUCKING MIC! All you have to do is PLUG IT THE FUCK IN!! WE'RE FUCKING LOSING BECAUSE YOU FUCKS AREN'T USING YOUR MICS!"-

I game on PC and 360 and I agree that coordination and communication like that is rare to find in the console world. Take CoD 4 or Halo 3. Unless it's a group of friends or a clan, most people are just going to run around the map and try to rack up kills. Setting an ambush by planting C4 while your buddies train their machine guns on a doorway is the type of behaviour I've only consistently found in Battlefield 2 or good Team Fortress 2 servers.
In CoD4's case the maps are so damn small and the spawn points random that you just don't have the time to develop a plan and put it into action. Plus, there's no command or squad based system like the one Battlefield 2 to facilitate that type organization anyway.
Halo 3 doesn't have enough variety/depth in equipment or character abilities to plan and strategize. Aside from letting your team know if there's a warthog/banshee inbound, or where the guy with the sniper rifle or spartan laser is camping, you just run off on your own and try to kill whatever you find.-

I can only speak about the big FPS games on the 360. I never had a PS2.
Battlefield 2 is the benchmark. Compared to it, CoD4 and Halo 3 are smaller and simpler with much less incentive for teamwork. Like I said above, teamwork in CoD4 and Halo 3 is pretty much limited to keeping your buddies informed about where the bad guys are. In BF2 the whole team has to communicate and the commander has to coordinate multiple squads to attack and defend while managing resources like the UAV and artillery. You don't have to do that. You can throw caution to the wind and just go for kills ala Halo/CoD style but god help you if you are facing a team that is organized. I don't care how good your aim is. You will lose...badly.
I've also found the player base on Xbox Live to be much less....shall we say...mature. I've been on some bad Counterstrike servers with some pretty raunchy porn sprays but none of that matches the racist/sexual slander and gutter talk of a Halo 3/CoD4 game lobby. There's always at least one asshat in the crowd that has anger issues or is just trying to get a rise out of people.

I kind of agree. You may know where players might spawn (the spawn points are hard coded spots) but there's a lot of them in any one area of the map and there's usually at least one bad guy in a region of the map that your team doesn't control or have a presence in. Thus, you don't know which spot a dead gamer is going to spawn in next. It is effectively random.
Unless you've got the entire opposing team pinned down in one area, a dead gamer is going to spawn in a section of the map you and your pals are not covering (i.e. have a presence in). Pinning an entire team down is next to impossible in CoD 4. I've only seen in happen with any consistency in Domination mode. In Deathmatch, players tend to be all over the place, meaning dead gamers are spawning all over the place.
As for controlling sections of the map...yes....if you station a team member in an area of the map it discourages the game from spawning the enemy in that vicinity. For example, on Ambush if you have a guy manning one of the machine guns, the enemy will almost never spawn in that section of the map. Thus, you have reduced the number of places they can spawn. If you steadily push the other team back you can pin them into an area and grenade and machine gun the hell out of it until the round is over. However, that type of map control requires coordination and teamwork which you are not going to find in CoD4 unless you are playing with friends or as part of a clan. It's also a low down, dirty tactic, kodiak, though I admit to using it myself (especially on Domination).

Bad Company is the WORST. You are trying to take the crates from a base 3 removed from your starting point and the only teammate to spawn on is the dickhead who's been sitting in the arty chair since the game started. The only thing you can do is stab the little bastard and hope he gets the message -

I've had more luck playing CoD4 with Japanese players. Whenever I join US games people are blasting music into their mic or yelling some retarded bullshit. It's pretty irritating.
I'm guessing it's because the PS3 doesn't really interest younger gamers as much as the wii here.
