Microsoft just sent over a screenshot-laden note to remind us that Hothead Games' webcomic-inspired downloadable RPG Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One is this week's Xbox Live Arcade release.

Arriving on Wednesday, May 21 and priced at 1600 Microsoft Points ($19.95), Penny Arcade Adventures will be sold on Xbox 360 via the console's online Xbox Live Marketplace, while the PC, Mac and Linux editions will debut on Greenhouse.

The price is more than enough to put me off. $20 for an XBLA game is outrageous.

It's also $20 for a PC, Mac, and Linux game.

I agree. The price is a serious mistake on their part.

Do you think the $20 pricetag for the PC version is a mistake, too? What's the difference?

The difference is that this game will be dumped in with other games on XBLA, most of which are priced at $10 or less.

and? Your statement brings nothing new to the argument

I think the point is that it will be the most expensive XBLA title, even when compared to full Xbox Original titles. So an Episodic game for $20, or a full game for $5 less. The math just doesn't work.

Not saying the game isn't worth $20, it just stands out within the XBLA business model.

Are all of you people this fucking dense? I'm talking about your average joe-shmoe XBLA user who doesn't consider why the price is $20, just that the price IS $20 and the game is only considered an 'episode'.

Why should XBLA be discounted, just because it's sitting in your living room? You've got the choice of playing the same game on four different platforms for the same price. Sure, lots of XBLA games are $5 and $10, but you can find cheap PC games, too.

I see no difference, and you've yet to articulate one.

Where exactly did I say that I feel the game should be discounted? I'm playing devil's advocate for christ sakes. $20 looks bad to your average consumer compared to every other $10 game. That is all I'm saying. Is that difficult to comprehend? Honestly?

The obvious remedy to this supposed problem is to discount the XBLA version of the game.

While I'm not a fan of the price, especially for an XBLA game. I'll try it out first to see if it indeed deserves my 20 dollars. This is the best thing XBLA offers the consumer, try before you buy.

I think the people that are complaining are the same people that bitch about buying a game that is 10 dollars.

off that subject. Does anyone know what the combat system is like? I'm a neophyte when it comes this kind RPG.

It's a turn based rpg like the old Final Fantasy I/II or Pokemon games. You go, then your opponent goes, then you go, back and forth. There will probably be a stat that will determine who goes first.

Beyond that it's the simple find the ability that stops the bad guy from doing some worse counter type things. This game is more about the story and having fun with the simple combat than planning the next strategy of world domination. Didn't they say this game will last 8-10 hrs if that? Hell that's about as long as Mass Effect and I paid $50 for it.
