Redesigned PS3 Online Store in April

A streamlined interface for the PlayStation 3's online PlayStation Store will roll out in April, according to SCEA product development director John Hight.

"I think you will see a pretty big change in the [online offerings of the] PlayStation Network in the early part of April, where we roll out some new interface stuff largely based on customer feedback," Hight told Gamastura.

"Simplification, cutting down on the number of mouse clicks, making it easier to find stuff that you want to find," he clarified. "That's kind of an outgrowth of us having more content now, so we have to make sure that you can get at it easily."

Reports of a redesigned PlayStation Store emerged late last month, with Kotaku claiming the new look would be more in line with the SingStore component of SCE London's karaoke title SingStar (PS3).

The redesign marks one of Sony's recent efforts to improve and enhance the system. Just yesterday, the company confirmed that the upcoming 2.4 firmware will add standardized in-game communication.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

Please to be providing demos of all "arcade / smaller" games (like XBLA). I LOVE try before you buy on XBLA and have bought a lot of games there due to that feature. I'm afraid to try out buying games on PS3 store since I have no way to know if the game is any good before purchasing...

This absolutely needs to be a priority. Well, content in general, but demos more than anything. There is no way I'm buying any of their PSN games unless I can try them first.
