Is anyone excited for this at all?

I just can't seem to get excited for it like I did Supreme Commander and World in Conflict...

Supreme commander was a supreme disappointment to me. Slow build speeds and huge distances = boring gameplay. Ironically, I LOVED total annihilation. And played it up until about 3 years ago. I was so hyped for SC, and it made me cry.

World in Conflict on the other hand, I played it briefly and just gave up, got bored. Was pretty though.

Universe at War: I tried the beta from fileplanet but couldn't get past the weird games for windows bull crap when setting up an account, and just quit. LOL

See I loved (and still love) SupCom for the very reasons you hated it. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I also enjoyed the MP aspect of World in Conflict too. I hope this is fun, I'm downloading it right now.

In offline skirmishes after a certain point it becomes an exercise in futility to command units with any decent level of responsiveness or precision.

See I never had any issue with this.. Especially in the expansion SC is great fun!

Supreme Commander + Forged Alliance = Total Annihilation + 1...add in a second expansion pack that adds underwater buildings...and a single nearly indestructable experimental and you have Core Contengency +3...add in an 81x81km map, 8 people playing with rigs from 2 years in the future made by some dude who calls himself robot jesus and you have the best game of all time...+2

the new units are great, but god damn is the single player GOD AWFUL.

I thought it was alright, just easily gimmicked, although it depends on what you mean by single player. Skirmish is more fun to me than the Campaign (which has an awful story, more so than the original)

At least everything I hear about Supreme Commander (and its subsequent expansion) confirms what I suspected from only trying the demo: Chris Taylor has learned jackshit since the TA days, and all the reasons I got bored with TA are why I should never bother purchasing Supreme Commander.

I played the beta, it was average, the units and animations weren't too exciting and it didn't pull me in. I barely have time for Forged Alliance right now and that's twice as good as this. its single player might be decent though, suppose I'll at least download and install it.
