Xbox 360 Arcade Spotted on Retail Shelves

Xbox 360 ArcadeThe existence of Microsoft's Xbox 360 Arcade package has been definitively confirmed by way of sightings on retail shelves this weekend. The unit has been rumored to replace the Core model at that SKU's $279.99 price point.

Photographs confirm the $279.99 price point, and indicate that the games Boom-Boom Rocket, Pac-man, Uno, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2 are indeed included on a compilation disc. Like the Core, the Arcade model lacks a hard drive, but apparently avoids being quite as crippled by including a 256MB memory unit for saved games and Xbox Live Arcade downloads.

There have been several sightings of the unit, with one made by Shacker Prozium of Tucson, Arizona. Microsoft has yet to officially announce availability of the unit, suggesting that this scattered retail presence is unintentional and likely the result of distributors or store staff failing to adhere to the Arcade's release date.
