Kojima Productions announced the development of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus for the PlayStation Portable Tuesday during Sony's PlayStation Premier 2007 event in Japan. The company additionally revealed the development of Metal Gear Solid Online for the PlayStation 3.

A Konami rep confirmed that the announcements at the event only applied to the Japanese versions of the games but said to "stay tuned" for announcements concerning other regions. Little information on the PS3 title was revealed, other than being an online multiplayer experience similar to the online gameplay found in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

Concerning Portable Ops Plus, Kojima Productions released a trailer and a few screenshots of the title at a company event site for the show. The footage revealed several updates to the original PSP title, with supplementary stages, characters, and gameplay modes affecting the multiplayer aspect of the game.

New and presumably playable characters seen in the trailer include Raiden, Liquid Snake and, shown as a surprise near the end of the video, the aging snake from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3). A new single player mode called Infinity Mission will extend solo play as well.

Additional details on the titles may come Tuesday during the Kojima Productions Metal Gear 20th Anniversary Party in Tokyo.
