Another Tomb Raider Film Possible

A third Tomb Raider movie starring Angelina Jolie (pictured left) may yet be produced, according to a recent interview with SCi product acquisition director and Eidos co-founder Ian Livingstone. However, the film will likely depend on sales of Crystal Dynamics' upcoming Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary (PS2, PSP, PC), the remake of Core Design's 1996 Saturn, PlayStation and PC original.

"At this moment in time it's still not green-lit, but the signs are there," Livingstone told Mirror.co.uk. "Paramount have talked about the film for a long time, and I've had meetings with them. They're willing to put a scriptwriter on board. Angelina Jolie has an option to do a third movie."

The first Lara Croft: Tomb Raider feature, helmed by director Simon West, hit theaters in 2001. The Jan de Bont-directed followup, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, arrived in 2003. Both were met with extremely poor critical response.

"I think when they see how successful Anniversary will be and realise that the world is still in love with Lara," Livingstone added, "they'll be more inclined to exercise their option."
