Though initially Vin Diesel was attached to play Agent 47, the role will now go to Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood, The Girl Next Door, Go). Additionally, Luc Besson has hopped on board as a producer. According to AICN, the movie might be in theaters as soon as next fall.

    As soon as next fall?

If it isn't effects heavy I don't see why, if pre-production is already underway, why they couldn't produce a high-quality mid-budget action movie for next fall.

Except they never do. It'll be like all the other non-big budget video game/comic book movies. Like The Punisher. Forgettable "quickies" like that.
