Sundown In Development

13

According to this Hollywood Reporter story, movie director Guillermo del Toro (Blade 2, Hellboy) is teaming up with BloodRayne developer Terminal Reality to create Sundown, an apocalyptic action game for next-gen platforms. The game will have the player taking on zombies and other "potentially fatal horrors".

Players will start as a typical person on an average day. As everything goes terribly wrong, in order to survive they must learn to form alliances with various beings and to change their role as each new challenge calls for different abilities. "We want to create a real beginning, middle and end to the game and to each set piece of the game too," said del Toro, who owns the television and movie rights. "I want to make some of the atmospheric elements in the game very, very scary."

If this is in the same tone as Chronos or The Devil's Backbone that would be really very cool.

Devil's Backbone is worth a watch. Set during the Spanish Civil war it's about the kids orphaned by the conflict. Similar to Cronos in that the mythic / paranormal elements of the story are allagorical as a way of furthering the character-driven story.

Devil's Backbone is incredible, and the commentary on the collecters DVD version is even better then the movie. Guillermo absolutely rules!
