Tuesday Morning Xbox 360 Launch List

46
Here you go, a special edition of the New Releases list, containing the 18 titles which comprise the Xbox 360's launch lineup. I don't have the Xbox Live Arcade games in here, but if there's one in particular for which you would like to submit a ShackReview, go ahead and submit it.

In case you're wondering, the lineup can be broken down by the numbers as follows: 18 total, 5 Xbox 360 exclusives, 3 first person shooters, 6 sports titles (not including extreme sports), 2 extreme sports titles, 3 racers, and 4 platformers or other assorted action types. RPGs and fighting games are sitting out on the launch due to the delay of Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (X360, PC) and Team NINJA's Dead or Alive 4 (X360), but otherwise most of the big console genres are represented. In terms of publishers, EA is the biggest contributor with 5 games, followed by Activision with 4, and Microsoft Game Studio and Take-Two with 3 each. Ubisoft, Namco, and Sega head up the rear with 1 game apiece.

I haven't had the chance to really get started with any 360 titles yet, but I plan to sink some time into Kameo: Elements of Power later today. Project Gotham Racing 3 is sitting here too, so I'll give that a shot. I'm still on the fence about Perfect Dark Zero; I suspect there's some cool stuff there, but certain things (rather maddening soundtrack, the actual art direction not really living up to the technical graphics aspects, etc.) keep me from getting really jazzed up. I meant to pick up Gun earlier, and now that the 360 version is out I might as well play that one. Mainly I'm looking forward to the Xbox Live Arcade stuff. I'm hoping to see some interesting games from interesting developers; we'll see if it delivers.

Finally got my PDZ review...lol...I'll wait a few more months before picking a 360...actually, I know Bioware's new baby won't be out for well over a year, which is when I'll probably pick up the 360. Heck, maybe by then MS will ad HDMI output and put in a HD-DVD ROM as well. Probably be the same price as the current premium console, but hell, I just can't see those analog outputs doing the HD justice.

I too wish that the system had HDMI from the start but the component outputs drive my projector to gaming bliss.

My HTPC is HDMI and there is definlty a difference in quality between the digital and analog connections but the 360 having all games in 720p looks really impressive. (from the 3 games i've played so far Kameo is the most stunning)
