Late Night Consoling

79
Plenty of good stuff tonight! Ya know, I've been to NYC once when I was like seven years old and never had any inclination to ever go back. Well, news on a two-story Nintendo store certainly changed my mind! Has anyone been to the one in Redmond or the Sony Metreon? Exciting times or just a waste of space?
  • GoldenEye DS Confirmed

    [ds]

Nintendo made an official announcement regarding GoldenEye: Rogue Agent for the DS; it's coming soon! It will be based off the console version where you play as a dismissed MI6 agent now working for the bad guys. Wireless multiplayer will be supported up to seven players. Screenshots can be found here.

  • Halo 2.5? Xbox 360 to be Backwards Compatible?

    [xbox]

The keen editors over at TeamXbox noticed something interesting during an interview with Microsoft's J Allard. G4 conducted a video interview with the MS bigwig and asked if the "kickass Halo 2 players" would be able to continue their reign on the next Xbox. Allard replied, "We'll have something for those kick ass Halo 2 players on the next system." Ooh, something? Is Halo 2.5 real? Or will the system by backwards compatible? When asked if Halo 2 on Xbox 360 would be possible, Allard gave the same response. When prodded if it'd be backwards compatible, Allard put an end to the discussion: "You keep asking a question I'm not going to answer Geoff. Does that satisfy you?"

  • Half-Life 2 Still an Xbox Title

    [xbox]

According to subscribers receiving the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, Half-Life 2 is still coming to the Xbox. Previous rumors suggested it was being held off as an Xbox 360 launch title but according to the magazine, it's on track for a summer release. Sadly, there will not be a multiplayer component.

  • Dead to Rights, Viewtiful Joe Coming to the PSP?

    [psp]

It would appear to be true as EBgames.com added a listing for Dead to Rights: Reckoning, complete with a shot of the box art. No details were in the listing and the 5/1/05 release date probably isn't accurate, but the site has done a great job leaking information on games that had been previously unannounced. Meanwhile, IGN translated an article from Famitsu that suggests a new Viewtiful Joe game will make its way onto Sony's portable. Characters from the past games and the anime will make appearances and the gameplay was likened to Super Smash Bros.

  • PSP Not a Sell-Out

    [psp]

A Bloomberg article had sales numbers on the PSP and they aren't as impressive as you would expect. A survey conducted by Credit Suisse First Boston suggests that Sony has sold somewhere between 600,000 and 700,000 PSPs in the first week of sales. Sony made available 1 million units for the launch.

  • Nintendo Opening Store in NYC

    [nintendo]

The Big N is planning to open a two-story mega-complex in the middle of New York City's Rockefeller Center that will showcase the best of Nintendo. Called the Nintendo World Store, it will also serve as the new Pokemon Center and headquarters. The store is planned to open sometime this spring.

  • Put Your Xbox Saves on Your PSP

    [xbox] [psp]

The PSP hacks keep on coming as a few hardworkin' peeps figured out how to get your Xbox saved game files onto the PSP memory card. The whole process is detailed here. All you need is a USB adapter that slides into the Xbox controller and a USB cable. Be careful, though; must use a blank memory card or all your PSP saves will be erased!

Mario's Picross for the Game Boy Color. "It's a simple concept. Fill in the squares on the grid according to the numbers along the sides. With over 100 puzzles, this game is addicting as Tetris ever was. The series was big in Japan and spawned many sequels for the Super Famicom." (submitted by radjago).
