Well, it's now official, the new Blizzard Entertainment game announced today is StarCraft: Ghost. A 3rd person action game that is being co-developed (!) with the folks at Nihilistic, (the guys responsible for Vampire: Masquerade) The guys at Cube.IGN happen to be there and have a few choies images from the game along with the obligatory set of concept art. Click to enlarge Like the name implies, StarCraft Ghost puts you in the role of a stealthy Ghost trooper from the RTS, specifically a female Ghost named Nova. In case you've never played StarCraft and have no idea what the Ghost unit is, they are stealthy assassin troopers born with Psionic abilities and trained at a young age to be super-soldiers, kind of like high-tech ninjas with psychic abilities. Not a bad unit to base a game off of.

Once the Blizzard page actually starts working again we'll try to scrounge up some more info for you guys, and of course we can generally expect some emails from the Blizzard folks with more info in the following hours/days. One very importante not though, from the IGN folks:

No specific platforms have been released at this time, and all Blizzard is saying is "next-generation consoles," so by our best guesses, that probably means that we'll be seeing Nova on all three consoles. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the PC or Macintosh, and it appears that, at least at this point, StarCraft: Ghost will be a console-exclusive title.

Aha! Got the images to check out here
