It's been a little bit more than a month since PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds launched on Steam, and already the game is proving to be an out-of-nowhere hit with fans. Developer Bluehole Studios has announced that the game has surpassed two million copies sold since the March 23 release.

The game, a Battle-Royale- or Hunger-Games-style experience, is celebrating with a charity competition featuring 64 European streamers and 64 U.S. streamers going through a series of battles to try to raise $100,000 for the Gamers Outreach Kart program, which benefits children and teens in hospitals through playing games.

“One of the main reasons we were able to hit this sales milestone is that we have a dedicated community who has helped us refine PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds,” Bluehole CEO Gang-Seok Kim said in a statement. “We felt this invitational was a great way to give back and are pleased to make this small contribution to the cause. We are glad to support Gamers Outreach in their mission to provide recreation to hospitalized children and help their families cope with long-term treatment.”

The event will be livestreamed on Twitch on May 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT / noon to 8 p.m. ET.

Hope he can use this money to maybe get a better dev on board with the game, I'm assuming he retained rights to it when bluehole was contracted for the publishing/development of the game.

I don't really have much faith that bluehole will make the best game possible, they don't really have a good record considering tera became a p2w gross thing over time.

I wonder what the deal was, I assume he got screwed somehow, he's just a solo modder right?

Well I was talking out of my ass though I don't think anyone knows the specifics of their contract besides PU and Bluehole management. He's currently working at bluehole as a lead designer/creative designer on PUBG and claims to have basically full control of the project with little or no input/oversight.
