Rumor: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti To Be Announced at GDC NVIDIA Event

Data found in the NVIDIA website source code seems to point to the introduction of the GTX 1080 Ti at GDC.

NVIDIA fans have been eagerly anticipating the inevitable arrival of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, and it looks like they might not have much longer to wait. According to VideoCardz, the timer currently counting down to NVIDIA's GDC event held a secret that may have confirmed that the 1080 Ti will be announced at that event.

When NVIDIA added the countdown to their site, promising that "it's almost Time #ULTIMATEGEFORCE," the cat was pretty much out of the bag. However, when VideoCardz looked at the source code, they saw that the background video that plays when you load the countdown had "GTX1080Ti" in its title. The title of the video has since been changed to remove references to the 1080 Ti.

While this isn't a definite confirmation that the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be announced at the February 28 NVIDIA GDC event, it makes sense that NVIDIA would choose that date to reveal their new card. February 28 also just happens to be the date that AMD is holding a preview for its next generation Vega series cards, so NVIDIA may be out to steal a little of their thunder.
