Stuff That Sucks: Public At E3 2017
Greg Burke is back to squash any excitement about E3 being open to the public in this week's episode of Stuff That Sucks.
The Electronics Entertainment Expo is going to be open to the public for the first time in years! This is great news for the ESA, the event's organizers, as support from larger third party developers has waned over the past few years. It is also a nightmare for intrepid games journalists like myself. E3 is already a crowded fight to the death and I can't say that I am excited for the additional 15,000 people who are going to be in lines and trampling over each other for swag. That being said, Shacknews will have an E3 booth in West Hall this year which could provide us some sanctuary from the teeming masses. Please take a look at the latest episode of Stuff That Sucks as I delve into more detail to explain why I believe E3 being open to the public is going to suck royally for games journalists.

I don't see a problem with making E3 more accessible to people that enjoy games instead of viewing them as a job. The press are still going to get private screenings and play sessions.

Idk, I think this might be a very silly gripe. One in which, you do not recognize your privilege. Be greatful that you've had access to the mecca of the video game industry for as long as you've been working in game journalism. E3 is like Super Bowl weekend. Every gamer longs for the content, and for some to now have the chance to play what was just announced insteead of hearing it second hand through a sometimes unfocused video cast, would be an awesome experience many would enjoy. You're basically saying, hey let me tell you about my experience here, and you don't deserve to have that same experience, only my telling of it.
