Ever since the game's release in the Early Access program on Xbox One this past week, several fans have been enjoying slapping around pucks in EA Sports' NHL 15, which officially releases this Tuesday. However, they're doing so with a slight grudge, as several key features, namely Playoff Mode and Online Team Play, are missing.

Not to worry, as series producer Sean Ramjagsingh has detailed that these modes, along with several other features, will be re-added via downloadable updates over the next couple of months, in a post in the NHL 15 forums. These updates for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are as follows:

September:

Playoff Mode – Play an offline tourney with 16 teams from the game's 12 leagues. You can sim games, and player and team stats are kept throughout the tourney.

Be a Pro Coach Feedback – Like previous years, your coach will tell you what you need to do to get a better grade.

3 Stars of the Game – At the end of the game (in every mode) you'll see who were the three stars.

Ultimate Team – Updates include new layout and interface for the mode's store, new animations for player items, and an improved edit lines screen.

October:

Online Team Play – 5-on-5 online team play.

Drafting in GM Mode – Make your team's picks on draft day. You'll get three minutes to make your pick, but you are also afforded an unspecified amount of time outs if necessary.

The updates will be free of charge.

NHL 15 releases tomorrow for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

2 weeks prior to the release of NHL 16. approximately 4 weeks before they cut off multiplayer for NHL 15.

Wait, where does it say it's September and October 2015?

It says it right in the forum post that is linked in this article. I believe it's even underlined.

It's not 2015, they're being cheeky. It's coming this year.

As someone who has played the game since '93, I'm extremely unimpressed. The gameplay always seems to be entertaining, but to be missing out on features like OTP, or the ability to simulate to your next shift in Be a Pro almost destroys my experience. I'm trying to love Be a GM right now, but even there I'm not seeing the option to buy out contracts, which is not good. Hopefully they can bring this around quickly.
