Even though our hopes for a good video game film adaptation tend to result in disappointment, we still hold out hope when we hear promising news for a project. In the case of Splinter Cell, those hopes are currently being raised by word of a fitting director.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) is in final negotiations to direct the film. The report also notes that Tom Hardy, who we heard would be taking the role way back in 2012, is still attached to the project. The screenplay was written by Eric Singer, who wrote the first draft of what would become Oscar-nominated American Hustle. It is reportedly planning a release date in 2015.
