Watch Mega Man's creator play Mighty No. 9

Comcept has posted a video of Inafune sampling a recent build of Mighty No. 9, showing off the animations, background stages, and some very nervous-sounding developers.

Crowdfunding success and Mega Man spiritual successor Mighty No. 9 is still in development, under the management of Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune. But Inafune himself isn't personally crafting the game bit by bit, so instead he samples the work done by the team. And watching this process is just so very uncomfortable.

Essentially, you're seeing the creator of a classic game series playing, stone-faced, through a new game that is almost exactly like his own creations. The employees offer occasional tidbits about the progress they've made or the changes they still intend to make, and Inafune sometimes chimes in with other aspects that need improvement. Otherwise, it's a good three minutes of watching developers nervously watch their boss while seemingly wondering to themselves: did we Mega Man good enough? Inafune keeps them on pins and needles until the very end, when he relieves the tension by saying he is "extremely satisfied." Cue cathartic laughter.

Also it shows some game footage, both of Beck's animations in a placeholder stage and of him running along a background that resembles the early concept artwork. Check it out below (via CVG).
