Expect the pace of DayZ's development to pick up, as Bohemia has bunged a whole load of new people to the team. Creator Dean 'Rocket' Hall revealed this in his latest dev blog post, also confirming that the team shall start focusing on expanding survival elements. First up is a cooking system, giving survivors more culinary options than guzzling cold beans from a can cut open with a kitchen knife.
"We are inducting a large number of new people to the team, effectively doubling the whole project," Hall wrote on Friday. Ramping up development will also help Hall's plans to leave Bohemia and start his own studio once the project's in a good enough state to go on without him, which could potentially be this year.
The newly-expanded gang last week started implementing cooking, letting survivors heat up food gradually on stoves and campfires to make hearty meals, though it'll have the risk of overcooking too. Tantalising dishes like that survival staple soup are teased. DayZ's cooking system is inspired by "outstanding" one found in Project Zomboid, Hall explained.
Cooking will be "part of a wider push in March to focus on Survival aspects of the game in general," he said. The team plan to share the rest of this year's development roadmap "very soon."
