Dead Island dev delays Hellraid into 2014

When Dead Island creator Techland announced Hellraid in April, its plan to launch the "first-person slasher" this year was surprising, given how long video game marketing plans usually run for. Well, it's now a bit more in keeping with tradition, as Techland has delayed the game into 2014 to expand and improve it. "If we released our game this year we would have to make too many compromises and the final product probably wouldn't meet all our promises and your expectations," producer Marcin Kruczkiewicz explained in today's announcement. With a head full of ideas and feedback from testers, Technland's got a lot of work to do. "For example we want to redesign the magic system to make it even more powerful and diverse, add new ways of casting spells and a set of new, more visually stunning spells," Kruczkiewicz said. Technland plans to add new modes for both single-player and co-op too. Pitting players against the forces of, you know, Hell with swords and spells, Hellraid is coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Here, console yourself with a new screenshot:

Oh, how sad and lonely it looks, empty until 2014
