World of Tanks coming to Xbox 360

World of Tanks is no longer confined to the PC. The team-based multiplayer game is coming to Xbox 360, Wargaming has revealed. The game will be coming this summer.

World of Tanks is no longer confined to the PC. The team-based multiplayer game is coming to Xbox 360. The game, properly titled World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition, is being developed by Wargaming West (formerly Day 1 Studios) and will be coming this summer.

The game will be will be digitally downloadable and free-to-play for both Gold and Silver Xbox Live gamers (although Silver members will only get it for seven days). Wargaming is redoing the controls for console and creating a new interface. During the open beta phase, which will be coming soon, only U.S. and German tanks will be available. New tanks and sides will be added after launch. Applications for the beta are now being accepted on the official site.

"Wargaming has always been dedicated to finding new ways to bring our games to new players and platforms," said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming, said in a release. "Our partnership with Microsoft and our move to the hugely successful Xbox 360 will give millions of gamers around the world the opportunity to experience what has made World of Tanks such a global phenomenon."
