I hope nVidia isn't going to waste time and money saving Aureal. Frankly I think EAX is a heck of a lot better than A3d and I would like to see it garner more support as a result of Aureal dying.

Has anyone ever tried Quake 3 in A3d? Jesus it sounds shite, Counterstrike on the other hand with EAX sounds amazing.

I didn't pay attention to the response number, because I hit reply to the post I was responding to, and that usually puts the right number in the box.

I said back when A3D went under that it would make a lot of sense for Nvidia to buy them if they could get it cheap enough. Their expertise in chip design and production oversite would mesh pretty well with the sound world, and they would have the muscle to stand up to the weekly Creative lawsuits.

The sound card world without Aureal is actually pretty bad. They have no serious competition. Not long ago, you could buy a seriously competitive, and arguably better product in some ways for $15 (Vortex 1 vs the old SB pre live stuff). I bought my MX300 for under $50. Now, you go out and see the Live boards selling retail for $100.

I would only buy more Creative stuff if they were the only choice. I have had terrible customer support on a couple of products that I got that were defective, and don't want to go through that again.

/me crosses fingers and hopes somebody buys the A3D tech and makes something of it.

Think about it people.. NVIDIA has a good relationship with creative. Why would they want to hurt that? If they did buy Aureal...you can bet they would somehow use that asset as a way to improve their relationship with creative and not destroy it....as they do somewhat rely on them.

i dont think nvda would sell aureal cards that would threaten one of their biggest customers (creative). I hope they dont start making their own videocards or else they'll turn into another 3dfx
