Though no surprise to anyone, EA formally announced FIFA 14 today, and detailed the features for this year's iteration of the soccer game. It is in development at EA Canada, and coming this fall for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The announcement mentions that "additional platforms" will be revealed in the next few months, so we'd expect it to hit the PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox as well.

EA boasts that this game will feature revised ball physics to plan the trajectory of your kicks, and an entirely new feature called "Pure Shot." The pure shot system rewards you for planning your strikes by finding the best stride and approach angle to the net. New shot types include pure strikes, off-balance, and rushed shots. The game will include a "Global Scouting Network" to career mode, letting you scout players from all over the world to add them to your roster.

Other revisions come to the game's underlying systems. You'll be able to more easily block defenders while dribbling and get in front of the other team to receive a pass. Improvements to the dribbling system let you change direction at sprint speed for improved accuracy. Teammate AI has been improved as well. Plus, the game boasts revisions to FIFA Ultimate Team, a new social online mode, and revisions to the EA Sports Football Club.
