Stardock enlists Civ 4 designer Soren Johnson
by Alice O'Connor, Mar 04, 2013 3:15pm PSTStardock has added another big Civilization gun to its own strategy game arsenal, enlisting Civilization IV designer Soren Johnson to work on its future games. The studio already hired prolific Civ IV modder Derek 'Kael' Paxton in 2010 to oversee its fantasy strategy series Elemental, now overseeing the whole games side of Stardock, and also picked up Civ V lead designer Jon Shafer in 2011, though he's now off doing his own thing. Stardock likes Civ a bit, if you hadn't noticed.
Johnson "has come to Stardock, at least for a while, to oversee the design of all our games," CEO Brad Wardell explained in a dev update. "I think his impact on our upcoming (think 2014/2015/2016) will be pretty obvious."
All Stardock has announced for now is Fallen Enchantress - Legendary Heroes. It's the third game in its series which started out poorly with Elemental: War of Magic, has picked up nicely with Elemental: Fallen Enchantress, and should hopefully become the game Stardock dreamed of all along with Legendary Heroes.
Beyond that, what Soren Johnson could be working on is a mystery for now.
