X-COM: Enemy Unknown gets a healthy dose of love from the crew, and the polarizing nature of Assassin's Creed 3--particularly its opening hours--gets discussed. It's definitely aimed at the hardcore Halo fan. I go pretty in depth with a few different elements.
It's long, but I've broken it up into more digestible chunks.
Let me know what you think :)

I almost feel like I committed a crime for enjoying Skyward Sword as much as I did. Absolutely one of the games that I enjoyed the most in 2011. I didn't even dislike the first five hours at all. I still haven't gotten to play AC3, but I for one appreciate it when a game takes the necessary time to develop its characters and world before getting into the action. When pulled-off right it makes players feel more immersed in the world instead of just the combat. Don't most movies do this? Or are we all too used to first person shooters that throw you into the shit immediately?
Okay okay I'll admit that tutorials and hints have gotten overbearing since Ocarina of Time. That's the one complaint I generally agree with in regards to Skyward Sword. Is it weird that I actually enjoyed and cared about the characters in that game? For some reason I just felt like Skyloft was a really great place to be, and ended up doing most of the side quests there throughout the game, which went a long way in developing the town's characters.
The optimal Zelda opening sequence is probably A Link to the Past or Link's Awakening thoguh. In the former you're made to run through the rain for a few minutes, learning the movement and lift controls, then proceeding to learn the basic combat controls while sneaking into a castle. LA does basically the same thing while having you explore the village and find your sword.
What annoys me the most though is people suggestion how Nintendo should make Zelda more like another game like Demon's Souls or Skyrim or Shadow of the Colossus. It's gotten to the point where we're in a "Zelda Cycle" now where people will retroactively praise the last game that came out upon the release of a new one.
The best thing I can ask for from Nintendo in regards to the next installment would be for them to surprise us. That's all.

Nintendo WiiU Network accounts linked intrinsically to HARDWARE. I hope they don't release new and interesting SKUs or your WiiU breaks because that is some CRAZY BULLSHIT.

It is a problem that often comes up in Superhero related properties. The easiest way to write someone like Superman is involve Kryptonite because it strips away all his powers which also strips away what makes him Superman. Instead if you consider the character and create challenges in the world that are up to that it works better.
Survival Horror is the same thing. If you take into account all the abilities and weapons of the characters properly it should be possible to make anything tense and horrific.
Dark Souls does it (beating that drum again), Garnett did you ever play it I think you would LOVE IT, it even has co-op that ads to risk / reward.

But is it just me, or is the world of high profile gaming podcasts all but dominated by ever aging PC gaming purists? Sure, you've got Jeff Gerstmann and the Retronauts, but then you've got a bunch of old grognards who wear their affiliation with old-school PC gaming like a badge.
I mean, to each his own, I'll happily respect other people's opinions and all, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to relate to the topics or games being discussed on shows like this one. The games I play are rarely talked about, and the games that are seem to be praised for merits that I tend to think are tertiary points, if not moot altogether.
Granted, I'm the odd man out in a lot of ways, but it can't be that uncommon for someone to have grown up on a diet of console and arcade games with minimal to no access to a PC, and to have had gaming tastes shaped by platformers, scrolling shmups and JRPGs instead of point and clicks, FPSs or strategy games.
Why is that perspective so rare these days? Is it just a symptom of a self-selecting audience? Or has the gaming audience at large simply become more ubiquitous?

Bioware doesn't make RPGs anymore, they make trashy romance novels in a choose-your-own-adventure format, and throw some increasingly streamlined gameplay mechanics around them.
Ok, slight exaggeration, but honestly, it seems like they put more and more time into ensuring I can bang whoever I want, and less and less time into actually making the worlds interesting or the gameplay engaging.

Big holiday show next week!
Thanksgiving traditions include a lot of great gaming and we always enjoy sharing those stories. So if you have any favorites, please share them. Or tell us what you're thankful for this year. (and hold those Christmas stories, we'll have that show coming too).
Also on the next show, the legendary Seth Killian and my awesome girlfriend Ariel Angelotti, both of Sony Santa Monica, join us to talk some PlayStation All-Stars, and of course everything else.
And we'll have Andrew Yoon on who's been deep into the WiiU for the Shacknews launch coverage.
Going to be a massive show.

ME2 is one of my favorite games this generation as well, but even I can tell they tried to pander to the shooter audience with that game (combat was my least favorite thing about ME2), ripping out features from ME1 that probably should've just been improved and fixed. DA II was rushed out to capitalize on the unexpected success of Dragon Age Origins which, before ME3, was actually BioWare's most commercially successful game ever (that could be because DAO and ME3 are the only games they've launched on three platforms simultaneously, though I'd like to compare sales on Xbox 360 alone for a truer indication). Even the guys on the show observed that a producer didn't include "RPG elements" in the "tentpoles" of the ME franchise.
I'll just say this in general - BioWare needs to learn when to and when not ot listen to the fans, and just make the RPG they wan to make.

I think it is just old mans code for "I suck" . I say this as an over-40 gamer who does suck at MP games. But whenever I go on, usually with a few friends and some strangers to round out the match, I've found that most of the time, people just ignore you if you aren't good. Unless you're an ass to begin with.
It's probably a different story for women or some other's but for the guest, it just came off as "I'm gonna take my ball and go home"

The guy is NOT A JOURNALIST, he's a FANBOY !
I've never seen someone so biased and ignorant in th videogame industry.
He was saying that nothing interesting came on 3DS this year in Bonus round. And he claims that Assassin's Creed Liberation was as good as Assassin's Creed 3 in Invisible Walls.
He gives opinion on games he played just few hours as he played the whole game.
Having Marcus this week on Weekend Confirmed was such a letdown.
Please, Jeff C comeback, we miss you so much !!!

They also need to Nathan Drake the main character of any RE reboot. Chris and Leon are superhuman now. There is no suspense when they are involved, because you know Capcom doesn't have the guts to kill them. If the audience knows there is no real peril other than a game over screen and a reload time, why should they invest in the character?

In any event, BioWare has already stated that all future Mass Effect games will take place before 1-3.

I'm going to Kmart down the street just hoping they have a deluxe. Other than that I'm on the waiting list, unfortunately having a child doesn't allow me to frivolously wait in line. I need sleep more than I need a WiiU. Nintendo land looks great, Mario bros looks fantastic, darksiders is a must try, and the future wondeful 101 and pikmin of course Bayonetta 2;)

Oh and for that ignorance is bliss turn based strategy has been thriving for years get a clue! Valkyrie chronicles, disgaea, and literarly a hundred amazing turn based games on handheld. You'd think at least since you guys can't play multiplayer game (ie your better than that 12 year old and that's what really piss you off) you would at least single player games.

I loved Casino Royale and Skyfall feels so boring.
I respect the nostalgia in Skyfall, but no gadgets, no cars, few chicks, less actions...
That just doesn't feel as a Bond movie.
Besides, there was that 24 orientation, that don't feel right in a bon movie.
That 6/10 movie for me.
METAL GEAR SOLID.
Especially as they continue, from Snake Eater's opening to the vehicle sections that sneak into the series to the items and tools and the sneaking and the villains and the insane spy plots that evolve with the times.
Solid Snake is even a better character.

I have an idea, we should keep all the haters in one thread so the rest of us can discuss video games.
Here you can let the Weekend Confirmed cast know about all the stuff they're doing wrong.
Let them know how wrong they are about a point, those idiots ...
Explain how incompetent they are at having a conversation.
Remember, if they don't like a game you like it's because they either suck, don't understand the franchise, or they're a fanboy of the competition. If they like a game you dislike they're obviously a shill or they're corrupt.
And remember, don't forget to lace your opinions with rude and insulting language for that extra level of class. Don't hold back, nothing contributes to the health of a conversation like insults.
