Star Wars: The Old Republic moves players onto bigger servers
by John Keefer, Sep 19, 2012 9:30am PDTBioWare had been testing higher capacity servers with the thought of consolidating current servers. They finally made it live over the weekend, moving players from low population realms to ones that will hold much larger numbers.
Many players who did not take advantage of the free server transfers logged into the game after server maintenance yesterday to find characters moved to the new destination servers. Some players had to change their names to avoid conflicts with same-name characters. After the consolidation, only 20 servers remain, some holding the population remnants of as many as 25 older servers.
BioWare stated that no characters were harmed in the making of this transfer. Those that are confused or now totally lost should check out the server consolidation FAQ.
