NASA Mars rover lands on Kinect in free game
by Alice O'Connor, Jul 17, 2012 9:00am PDTHey, kids! Science is fun, and space is cool! So come up, fire up your Xbox 360 and play Mars Rover Landing, a free Kinect Fun Labs game which lets you land NASA's wicked sick Curiosity rover on that gnarly red planet. Parents, please, encourage fondness for sciences in your spawn.
You'll get to direct the landing craft through the atmosphere, trying not to burn up and waste $2.5 billion, then deploy the Mars Science Laboratory rover with a sky crane once you're safely through. There are avatar gear and achievements to earn, too.
It's certainly fun to imagine someone in Mission Control directing the landing by contorting and waggling their arms, while everyone watches tensely.
Curiosity is scheduled to land on August 5, but Mars Rover Landing is available now.
