God of War movie gets new writers
by John Keefer, Jul 11, 2012 9:00pm PDTIt's been awhile since we heard anything about the God of War movie. In fact, franchise creator David Jaffe had expressed doubt the movie would ever be made. However, it appears Universal Pictures is going ahead with the project, hiring a new writing team to take over the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal has tapped Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to rewrite the Kratos epic for the big screen. The pair is best known for their work on Saw series, and Pacific Rim.
A film adaptation of Sony's successful action series was announced back in 2005, with Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, Tower Heist) originally working on the project. It's unclear if Ratner is still attached, but at least the movie is slowly inching out of development hell.
