Metal Gear Solid HD Collection adds rear touch controls on Vita
by Andrew Yoon, Feb 07, 2012 6:15pm PSTHow many times will Kojima update Metal Gear Solid 3? In addition to the upcoming 3D version of Snake Eater for the Nintendo 3DS, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is making its way to the Vita. But, in true Kojima fashion, the Vita version will be receiving a bit more than just added resolution.
In addition to cleaning up the graphics, the upcoming re-release of MGS 2 and 3 will take advantage of Vita's unique control methods. Specifically, the games will utilize Vita's odd rear touch panel.
"You can slice enemy's throat with knife if you flick the touch pad behind," Kojima told fans on Twitter. "If you pinch out left & right on touch panel behind w/ 1st person camera, you can stretch up yourself."
There's no word if the Vita version of these games will take advantage of the system's other features. The 3DS version of Metal Gear Solid 3, for example, offers gyroscopic camera support--something the Vita could easily replicate.
