Mojang currently working on three unannounced games

Mojang Specifications, the studio that made Minecraft and the upcoming Scrolls, has three more unannounced games in development. Two are planned for announcement and possible release in the first half of this year.

In addition to Scrolls, continuing support for Minecraft, and an Xbox 360 port, Mojang Specifications is apparently working on three more unannounced projects. Two of those projects are set to be announced, and possibly even released, in the first half of 2012.

Company CEO Carl Manneh told Edge that one project is coming from Markus "Notch" Persson, but it isn't very far along yet. "What it is today, I don't think he knows himself," said Manneh. "We certainly don't. It's probably going to be a lot of testing and playing around to see what works."

The other two projects are more developed, and they're the ones Manneh expects will be announced or released early this year. He says the two projects will have a "big impact" on the company, but he can't talk about them due to NDAs with companies. "Otherwise, we want to be very transparent about everything we do, but in this case we can't."

That sense of importance is partly to establish Mojang's identity outside of simply being the house that Notch built. For Manneh's part, he doesn't seem too concerned. "I think Notch will always be the fixed star over a long period of time, because he's Notch," says Manneh. "But we don't look at it that way - he gets a lot of attention, but other people in the company do too. So it's not something we're actively concerned about."

Since Minecraft's iterations are an ongoing process (complete with spin-offs), the addition of these three projects means Mojang will be juggling several projects all at once. It's been reliably quick for updates and responses to user feedback so far, so hopefully that doesn't change as the small indie developer becomes a busier than some AAA studios.
