After selling "more than two million copies worldwide," mostly through its former digital distribution platform, Stardock and Ironclad Games' Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity is now available on Steam.
According to Stardock CEO Brad Wardell, the March 2011 sale of its digital download technology Impulse to retailer GameStop means there is no longer "any conflicts of interest in offering our titles to other digital distribution channels."
While Stardock is starting with the bundled collection of its space-based RTS and expansions, other titles will be made available "over the coming weeks," Wardell added. Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity is currently on sale for $14.99 until November 23 on Steam.
"Steam does a lot of things right," Wardell said, noting the battle was still too early to call Steam the winner. At the time, Stardock owned and operated Impulse. "But there's certainly room for improvement which viable competition encourages. After all, MySpace once looked unbeatable in the social networking world but such premature assumptions look quaint in 'the age of Facebook'," the CEO added.
The "full-fledged expansion" expansion Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is set to launch next spring.
