Daytona USA officially announced for PS3, Xbox 360
by Steve Watts, Oct 12, 2011 1:15pm PDTSega officially announced Daytona USA today, confirming rumors kicked up by a less-than-subtle tease last week. The classic 1993 game has been given a a new widescreen presentation, steering wheel support, and online multiplayer. And if you just can't stand that period between an announcement and release, good news: it's coming later this month.
The game is due out October 25 on PlayStation Network, and October 26 on Xbox Live Arcade. It will hit Europe sometime in late November. The price is set at $9.99 (800 MSP), but Sony previously mentioned that Sega's "mystery title" would be 30% off for PlayStation Plus subscribers. You should be able to get it for a cool $6.99 if you happen to be a Plus member.
The revamp is keeping a lot of its legacy firmly in place. The graphics are mostly original, but have been retrofitted for 16:9 screens. The original soundtrack is still in tact, and it includes Arcade, Survival, and Time Trial modes. PS3 players can use the Logitech GT Driving Force wheel, while 360 players can use any supported steering wheel.
