3DS getting Link's Awakening today, Four Swords for free
by Steve Watts, Jun 07, 2011 9:25am PDT[Update] Link's Awakening DX (the GBC version) is now available on the Virtual Console in North America for $5.99, a bit more expensive than we've seen from the other VC offerings so far.
[Original Story] At today's E3 press briefing, Nintendo outlined plans for the Zelda 25th Anniversary. Today, the recently added 3DS eShop will get the Game Boy Color version of Link's Awakening. In addition, Nintendo will be giving away the 4-player cooperative game Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for free as DSiWare in September.
Nintendo also announced a series of 25th anniversary symphonic concerts celebrating music from the series, planned for each region. The company is planning two CDs too -- one given away free for early registrants of Ocarina of Time 3D, and another based on the symphony concerts.
The company promised "other activities and events" for the anniversary to come.
