Xperia Play coming May 26 with free games
by Steve Watts, May 17, 2011 10:30am PDTThe Xperia Play (once thought to be the PlayStation Phone) will debut later this month on the Verizon service, reports Ars Technica. The device will hit stores on May 26, and pre-orders from the Verizon Web site start this Thursday. It will cost $199.99 with a two-year contract, and you're required to sign up for a talk plan and data package to boot.
The device will come packaged with seven free regular Android games: Madden NFL 11, Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, The Sims 3, Star Battalion, Crash Bandicoot, and Tetris.
The phone is designed for games, but only comes with the Android titles for now. While it isn't the PlayStation Phone, it will inevitably be one of many PlayStation Phones. The PlayStation Suite is due later this year, and will bring a marketplace of PlayStation content to Android phones. At that point, the Xperia Play's catalog should grow quite a bit.
