SOCOM 4 getting 'Full Deployment Edition'
by Steve Watts, Feb 25, 2011 12:45pm PSTZipper Interactive has just announced a special edition of PS3-exclusive shooter SOCOM 4 on the PlayStation Blog. The "Full Deployment Edition" includes the game, Move controller, Navigation sub-controller, the Move sharp shooter, and a PlayStation Eye. The bundle will set you back $149.99. SOCOM 4 was one of the first core franchises announced with Move support.
On the subject of the game itself, the blog also reveals that SOCOM 4 will feature new covert missions. At times during the campaign, players will take control of a female South Korean covert operations expert, tasked with reconnaissance and sabotage. The gameplay seems to shift from shooter tropes to more classic stealth mechanics, including a stealth meter.
Both the standard and Full Deployment editions include two slug-powered shotguns for pre-orders, and the Suppression mode and accompanying map "Abandoned" for GameStop pre-orders. The blog teases details coming soon on the planned multiplayer beta, so we'll keep an eye out.
