Portal 2 on PS3 Will Not Feature Move Support [Updated]
by Steve Watts, Feb 17, 2011 11:00am PST[Update 13:30] Portal 2 won't support the PlayStation Move after all. Chet Faliszek replied to Shacknews, calling it a "lost in translation" error and saying Valve is "not supporting the Move controller." Shacknews regrets the error.
[Original Story] Valve and Sony are getting awfully cozy these days. We already knew that the PlayStation 3 version of Portal 2 would feature Steamworks and cross-platform play; now the company has announced it's building in Move support too.
"We made a mistake back then and gave the Orange Box console versions to an external team," Valve's Chet Faliszek told the German PlayStation Blog (via Eurogamer). "They did a good job, but didn't quite achieve the same quality level that we have at Valve. Now everything happens in-house, we created a special console department just for that."
"So the move to the PlayStation 3 comes late - we're sorry for that. As a small compensation we have PS3-exclusive cloud saving, a free code for PC and complete PlayStation Move support. Look at it as compensation for Left 4 Dead." He's careful to note, though, that Move hasn't been "fully integrated yet."
We've contacted Valve for more details on the Move support, including whether it will be ready in time for launch. We'll update as more information becomes available.
