Report: PlatinumGames' New Title 'Max Anarchy' Revealed, Featuring MadWorld's Jack
by Alice O'Connor, Jan 26, 2011 6:00am PSTBayonetta and Vanquish developer PlatinumGames is working on a new action game with online multiplayer, according to an Andriasang translation of the latest issue of Japanese video games magazine Famitsu.
Dubbed Max Anarchy, the game is said to be a melee-focused "fighting game," though producer Atsushi Inaba added that it's really a new type of game and coined the genre name "multiplayer melee fighting action." As well as a regular campaign, it'll support multiplayer modes with large numbers of players, including what Andriasang calls "cooperative elements" and "free-for-all combat." Inaba seemed confident Platinum could make large-scale multiplayer melee combat without synchronisation problems.
MadWorld star Jack (as seen above) will be a playable character, though reportedly he "has nothing to do with the game's story and world setting." He'll also be in colour, excitingly enough, unlike his black-white-red look in the Wii game.
Max Anarchy is slated to launch worldwide for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall, published by Sega. Hopefully we'll have more details and a formal announcement soon, as these vague details apparently come from simply a retrospective interview.
