Weekend Confirmed Episode 44

89
Garnett took a quick trip earlier this week to New York for Nintendo's big press event unveiling the 3DS. Along with the pricing and launch info, he returns with detailed impressions of the upcoming hardware and hands-on impressions of several of the games. Jeff, Billy, and special guest Ryan Payton also get in plenty of questions, but there's more to the show than just the 3DS. Fluidity, LittleBIGPlanet 2, and 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors round out Whatcha' Been Playin? The Warning starts with what may become a regular feature of talking about favorite game endings before moving on to some excellent questions Ryan brought. And in the Front Page, December and Year-end sales figures for 2010 lead a full slate of news that concludes with a few thoughts on EA's ill-conceived "Your mom hates this game" marketing campaign for Dead Space 2.

        Agreed.

You know what I think would be great, is a call line. Not live or anything, but a voicemail. I think it'd be a good way to make user involvement more personal. Just a thought. :)

The only other podcast I listen to is 8-4Play. I hope they make it a tradition to do Weekend Confirmed/8-4Play cross-over specials at E3 and TGS. I'd love to hear Garnett, Jeff, Mark, John, Shane, and John Davison all get together.

It's one of the very few podcasts I listen to EVERY week. Congrats, that puts you up there with This American Life and All Songs Considered.

Anybody else love Jeff's Wholeistic approach to gaming? It's fantastic and a rarity in journalism/critique. Many may mock his "I like to like things" mentality, but I tell you that in our current consumer environment, it's rare and refreshing to hear a person say that they enjoy lots of things. Bravo. Jeff is the anti Scrooge-Gamer.

Love you too, Garnett but you already knew that. I can't go longer than a week without that sultry baritone/segue-mastery. We don't always agree, but I can't tell you how much I appreciate you putting your heart into your beliefs.

Billy? I hope you stay man. I like the cut of your jib. Whatever that is. Hmm...

"The jib of a sailing ship is a triangular sail set between the foretopmast head and the jib boom." OH DEAR GOD

The reason I even know about Weekend Confirmed and Shacknews is because of Jeff. I just find him interesting to listen to either on this podcast or on TRS.
