Evening Reading
by Jeff Mattas, Jan 13, 2011 5:00pm PSTI'm not exactly sure what triggered the impulse, but I've been revisiting the show 'Sifl and Olly' recently on ye ol' YouTubes.
For the uninitiated, 'Sifl and Olly' was a short-lived comedy show created by musicians Liam Lynch and Matt Crocco that aired on late-night MTV from 1997-'99. It bears the distinction of being one of the most-beloved pieces of original comedy programming the network ever aired, while also being one of the lowest-rated. Sadly, despite fan requests, it's unclear if series will ever see a re-release that isn't so rare that it immediately becomes ridiculously expensive.
On that note, have a crescentfresh chatty.

In December we (ShackTac) invited you all to come over for a vanilla Arrowhead session, with positive results and some fun gameplay. It was a good time, but I was disappointed by the "vanilla" gameplay compared to what we typically have in our modified sessions, and felt that the overall experience left something to be desired due to that. I'd like to play another joint event with the new Shacknews crop of players, but I'd also like to not revisit vanilla Arrowhead to do so - hence this interest check.
In short, we use a program called Yoma's Addonsync to manage our modset. It is a very straightforward program to use (one which we'd have step-by-step instructions for), and permits easy distribution of custom modsets. I would like to know how many of you would be interested in a ShackTac-hosted Sunday even sometime in the coming weeks that would:
1) Be based off of the 'combined arms' setup of ArmA2 + Operation Arrowhead
2) Use our modset, which includes the Advanced Combat Environment mod and a bunch of misc stuff plus a ton of community-created terrains (totals about 7.7GB of stuff to download, but it's automagically easy via the Addonsync tool)
3) Involve us playing the more typical ShackTac-style missions, both cooperative and adversarial
So, who would be game for this? It's easy for us to set it up, pass out instructions, etc, and we'd be happy to help anyone get up to speed with the addons, the addon tool, etc.
Also, does the 1-2pm Sunday central timeslot work for reasonably well for everyone?
For anyone curious, this is a pretty solid example of what our typical sessions consist of:
