Battlefield 3 Unveiling Planned for GDC 2011
by Xav de Matos, Jan 11, 2011 6:00am PSTWhen rumblings of a popular EA property appearing at the Spike VGA awards were in full-murmur, many were hoping for a full reveal of the shooter Battlefield 3. Sadly, that's not what happened.
With the dark and snowy past behind us, we look to the future and specifically to GDC 2011 where the publisher has confirmed it will officially reveal DICE's latest title.
On March 1, 2011, during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, EA will host an event for the anticipated game. While Battlefield 3 has yet to come out of its bunker, EA has used the brand for promotion purposes. As an added incentive to purchase Medal of Honor near launch, EA upgraded the initial wave of copies to a "Limited Edition," which included (among other items) exclusive beta access for Battlefield 3
According to IGN, EA also plans to showcase Shadows of the Damned, Alice Madness Returns, Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, and Crysis 2 during the trade show.

No commander --> don't miss it, it's great not being spammed with artillery constantly
No advanced squad orders --> OK, that would be nice
No planes --> thank God, those were way overpowered
BC2 does offer:
Destructible environments, which are in incredible, game-changing improvement over BF2
Excellent load times and UI compared to BF2
The bottom line is that BC2 is a fast, sexy, next-gen game that is incredibly joyful to play...an improvement over BF2 in every way. If you don't agree, then I think what you're looking for is something like ARMA--a true military simulator. I want to play an awesome sandbox action game.
