It's an action-RPG game that gets a lot of RPG elements right, but a lot of action elements wrong. It's flawed, but I was willing to overlook the problems and see that the overall package was pretty enjoyable.
I would recommend playing it by these setting -- highest difficulty, "recruit background," specialize in hacking, stealth and pistol. I had fun playing it hardcore stealth and trying to finish every mission with zero alerts. Then the second playthough, you'll have "Veteran background" unlocked for some extra dialogue and a hell of a lot of bonus skill points.
