On Saturday night, the 2010 Spike VGAs were presented, showcasing a slew of new trailers for games stretching out as far as the year Two-Thousand-Thirteen. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: November 11, 2011
Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, PS3

Although a continuation of the Elder Scrolls series was expected, we were still hit with a sucker punch full of shock when Todd Howard took the stage to reveal Skyrim during the VGAs. Coming to the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on November 11, 2011, Skyrim will make use of a brand new engine.

Batman: Arkham City -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: Fall 2011
Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, PS3

After the massive success of Batman: Arkham Asylum, developer Rocksteady has returned to the cape and cowl to put players back in the shoes of the Dark Knight. In the Spike VGA trailer for Arkham City, we get a glimpse of the game's primary villain, Professor Hugo Strange. Although his involvement was first revealed in the Game Informer cover story, the trailer shows off the two battles that Batman must face: with his enemies as the crime fighting, Caped Crusader and the battle to keep his life as Bruce Wayne a secret.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: November 1, 2011
Platforms: PS3

Nathan Drake is back and his luck hasn't appeared to change. Arguably one of the most entertaining characters in this generation, Drake's third adventure will follow the explorer as he sets off in search of the legendary lost city "Iram of the Pillars." Along for the ride during his trek through the Arabian Peninsula is Victor "Sully" Sullivan, Drake's mustached friend and ally. Also, presumably along for the ride? A belly full of laughs and a fistful of action.

Mass Effect 3 -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: Holiday 2011
Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, PS3

Although we knew the game was in the works, it's still nice to get a glimpse into the world of Mass Effect 3. The final game in the current trilogy, Mass Effect 3 will continue the adventures of Commander Shepard and his (or her) crew as they attempt to save the human race from extinction. For the first time, Mass Effect will appear on three platforms simultaneously, with planned versions for the PC, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3.

SSX: Deadly Descents -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: Winter 2011
Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3

After a long time out of the spotlight, EA Sports will bring SSX fans back to the mountain. Today, EA confirmed that SSX: Deadly Descents will launch on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The last game in the SSX series was 2007's SSX Blur for the Nintendo Wii. According to SSX: Deadly Descent's official Facebook page "Players will explore the story of a team who seek to be the first to descend the faces of the most treacherous mountain ranges on the planet." This includes riding from the peaks of the Himalayas to the solid ice ranges of Antarctica.

Forza Motorsport 4 -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: Fall 2011
Platforms: Xbox 360

When it was announced during the Spike VGAs, there was some confusion surrounding the fourth game in the Turn 10-developed racing series. This morning Microsoft cleared up some of that confusion. Forza 4 will combine the standard control options available in the previous games in the series as well as the interactivity of Kinect, revealed at E3 2010. As expected, the game will feature a "roster of dream cars and tracks" as well as a continued partnership with The History Channel's popular series, "Top Gear."

Insane -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: 2013
Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, PS3

Other than being described as a "Lovecraftian" horror title and a game director Guillermo del Toro wants to cause surprise bowel movements, little is known about Insane. Today we learned that "Insane" is actually a trilogy of titles between Del Toro and THQ's Volition, with the first chapter expected to launch in 2013. As part of the agreement, THQ will hold the IP rights to the Insane games, and Del Toro will hold rights to any filmed entertainment products that may arise from the property. Since the announcement, we've learned that Insane is planned for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

Prototype 2 -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: 2012
Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, PS3

The sequel to 2009's Prototype appears to have taken a drastic turn in terms of story. Presumably, players will not take control of the first game's hero Alex Mercer, but rather play as Sergeant James Heller, who is attempting to kill Mercer. Developed by Radical Entertainment, Prototype 2 is scheduled to arrive on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in 2012.

Resistance 3 -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: September 6, 2011
Platforms: PS3

Another third title in a franchise makes its way to stores in 2011, with the release of Resistance 3 from Insomniac Games. Developed at the company's Burbank studio, the PS3-exclusive Resistance 3 will put players in the middle of an alternative-history 1950s as the menacing Chimera attempt to rid the world of the Human race.

Mortal Kombat -- [Previous Stories About This Title]
Release Date: April 2011
Platforms: Kratos in PS3 Version, Game Also Available on Xbox 360

Although a Mature-rated revival of Mortal Kombat has been known and previewed on many occasions, the announcement of Kratos from God of War was big news at the Spike VGAs. In the trailer featuring the roster addition (watch the extended cut in the link below), we see Kratos interrupt a battle between legendary foes Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Today, NetherRealm revealed that Mortal Kombat will arrive in April 2011. Kratos, obviously, is exclusive to the PS3 version.
