Mass Effect 3 Confirmed for Holiday 2011

The first trailer for Mass Effect 3 has been shown at the Spike VGA 2010 show, confirming the EA Store slip-up which listed the game for pre-order yesterday. The trailer shows a besieged Earth under attack from a new enemy.

The trailer lists the game for a Holiday 2011 release. No platforms were confirmed, but it's likely PC and Xbox 360 are definite for that date.

Here's my pessimistic side talking; Mass Effect 3 will be a big step closer to Modern Warfare and we won't even be able to play as our prior Shepard character, let alone a new one. Instead It will simply import that data as reference for the overal story and we'll take on the role of someone that's on earth during the attack... A solider. A "default" character.

If this is the case and I can no longer travel around the galaxy as Shepard and instead this is Mass Effect : Black Ops, my NERD RAGE will have no restraints.

Anyways, I like a good shooter as much as the next guy, but seriously, I hope they don't streamline this one more so than Mass Effect 2 and it ends up being only a FPS with absolutely nothing remotely RPG-ish.

I hope there is more than one location in this game. With the first two games spanning galaxies, it would be lame if the entire game took place on Earth.

Anyone who watches this trailer and even remotely suspects that this game will only take place on earth not only never played Mass Effect for more than 15 minutes, but they have no idea how BioWare even works.

The whole trilogy has been leading up to you rounding up every friend that's still alive from every planet they're left on, bringing them together, and then going to earth for the big showdown with the Reapers.

Also, Leahy, besieged by a new enemy? You mean the enemy from both Mass Effect games?

I wouldn't mind not playing as Shepard. I think I would mind if it is a FPS all of a sudden. Remember how they made the Citadel into a three-room place in ME:2? If they make Earth the same I'm going to cry.
