Todd Howard took the stage at the Spike VGA 2010 show to announce The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim with a release date of November 11, 2011. No platforms were announced, but we would assume it's going to be PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Oblivion was garbage and Fallout 3 was full of the worst production values out of any top tier studio. Not sure I have faith in Bethesda to make game this something worth playing.

I'm hoping they have a melee system as good as the one in Dark Messiah. I haven't played a game with a melee combat system that has matched it to date, and that was on the Source engine.

It's amazing how divided the community is on Bethesda games. I initially hated the feel of their games coming from playing HL2 and Call of duty, but the games will grow on you if you give em a chance. Loved Oblivion and Fallout New Vegas. Can't wait for this one!

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall was impressive for its time (bugs and all), but that was a long time ago now and - despite what some younger scholastics seem to think - Morrowind and Oblivion are exactly the same (bad) game with different environments. Let Skyrim be a Nordic Renaissance for the series...

I've been waiting for so long to hear an Elder Scrolls V announcment! This made my day! Even if it's only as good as Oblivion, the modding community will, as always, come in and improve things tenfold. Here's hoping they've improved the performance of their engine since then.
