NBA Elite 11 Officially Canceled, Franchise Going to Madden Studio
by Brian Leahy, Nov 02, 2010 3:40pm PDTFollowing its delay a single week before its intended release date, NBA Elite 11 has now been officially canceled according to publisher and developer Electronic Arts (via Kotaku)
Last week, EA initiated seasonal layoffs and Shacknews was told by a trusted source that one of the groups hit was the NBA Elite 11 development team. Statements made today reveal that the NBA Elite franchise will shift to EA Tiburon, responsible for yearly releases of Madden NFL, NCAA Football, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour.
Tiburon also developed the recently released EA Sports MMA, though its unclear if Electronic Arts will be franchising the series.
NBA Jam, originally intended as a pack-in for the PS3 and Xbox 360 game, will now be released as a standalone retail product for both platforms later this year.
Basketball fans will have to make do with the phenomenal NBA 2K11 (review) this year. Oh no.

NBA 2K11 isn't all roses but its a great game and they sure have lucked out this year, some credit has to go to the peeps who got the Jordan licensing all up in it along with the old school teams.

The most fateful day for NBA Elite 11 was not Monday, Sept. 27, the day it was postponed indefinitely. It's Sept. 21, the day it was crucified...
Boston's computer-controlled Jermaine O'Neal, standing all alone at the high post, takes one step and clangs a back-to-the-basket finger roll, a shot completely out of place for the situation. The Lakers' Pau Gasol then fails to inbounds the ball, to the frustrated sounds of buttons clacking - possibly because the pass command was moved to the trigger this year. It's never been used there before. The Celtics then quickly score on the Lakers - who have only four players in this end of the court.
That's because of The Glitch: L.A.'s Andrew Bynum at the jump circle in a T-pose, arms spread wide, standing there, says the narrator, "like Jesus in the middle of the court."
