          Two examples where achievements changed gaming. Steam and WoW both cloned the system after the 360 launched. They also made their way to iPhone games. WoW added a ton of value and playability via their achievement system
          
          I doubt we will ever see a serious gaming platform in the future, where achievements aren't a part of the system.
          
          In the end, achievements are just boy scout badges. They simply show that you accomplished something, and that's pretty cool.
