Evening Reading
by Xav de Matos, Oct 14, 2010 5:00pm PDTOh, hey. Yeah, this "Evening Reading" thing isn't my usual gig, but I thought I'd jump in and see what's what. Garnett is out for the podcast. Brian is out sick. I'm going a little out of my mind. So, it's a good time to get a conversation going.
I've recently started buying pieces of my "gaming rig of the future." The rig itself being built in the future, not necessarily from the future. Although, that would be awesome. But it'll get really old when the computer disappears into another time every time I type the numbers "88." Oh, and by the way, "Go Leafs Go!"

- It's a bullshit easy option for developers that gives them an excuse to create these 4 hour long games.
-They've all but replaced good unlockables and secrets. They've also almost totally killed off cheat codes in games. I miss the days when games had all sorts of wacky cheat codes.
-This is the big one - they created achievement whores. I'll never forget playing Left 4 Dead 1 and Gears of War 2, where a couple of my whiny bitch buddies made me play on easy difficulties, and gave me grief for shooting stuff because they needed the achievements. If developers want achievement points in their game, fine, but don't force me to have a shitty time playing because of it. Keep that shit out of multiplayer please.
