Valve and Icefrog Game Announcement Coming Tomorrow
by Brian Leahy, Oct 12, 2010 5:45pm PDTDefense of the Anicents (DOTA) developer Icefrog dropped a note on his PlayDota blog that his game with Valve will be revealed tomorrow through Game Informer.
Andy McNamara, editor-in-chief of Game Informer, also tweeted that the outlet would be publishing a "really kick ass" story tomorrow.
Riot Games butted heads with Valve recently over a filed trademark for "DOTA", leading to speculation that Valve would be releasing its own version of the popular Warcraft III map. Riot's own League of Legends is based around the formula established by Defense of the Ancients.

Anybody who's ever wanted to play this type of an half-breed RTS, already has done so by 1kh. Unless Valve somehow rewrites the formula or builds the game around some of their existing franchise, I really can't see how rehashed DotA could arouse any more interest on this type of a game, or make the players of forementioned games jump over.
As much as I love Valve, it really feels like they're just trying to milk an indie PC fad with this one.
