XBLA's Pinball FX 2 Delayed Until October 27

Good news and bad news virtual pinball fanatics: the upcoming Pinball FX 2 from developer Zen Studios has been delayed; however, you won't have to wait long for the release. Pinball FX 2 was set to be the penultimate release of Microsoft's current Game Feast promotion--the game was originally set to launch tomorrow but will now arrive on October 27.

The core game of Pinball FX 2 will be made available for free, with the ability to import tables from the original title in the series, which launched on the XBLA in 2007. Although there is now a gap in the current promotion, the press release outlining the delay still makes a point in referring to Pinball FX 2 as part of the Game Feast campaign, which next will add Super Meat Boy to its digital platter on October 20.

Tomorrow the XBLA will add both Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode One and Dead Space: Ignition.

According to Microsoft Games Studios lead producer Mark Coates, the decision was made to delay the game to "take a little extra time to ensure the launch of Pinball FX 2 is absolutely perfect."

We suspect the real reason is because the MGS team is trying to set insane high-scores before releasing the game to the public. But we're conspiracy theorists when it comes to "pinball controversy."

Hopefully the tables aren't quite as springy as the last bunch. The bumpers above the flippers always felt like they had a bit too much pep in them. Wonder if they could license any IP to make better themed tables too. The SF table wasn't bad, but a Star Wars or Simpsons table, especially a remake of the original tables, would sell well.
