Call of Duty: Black Ops on Pace to Set GameStop Pre-order Record
by Garnett Lee, Oct 08, 2010 4:00pm PDTWith four full weeks remaining until its November 9 release, Call of Duty: Black Ops is on pace to set a new record for pre-orders at GameStop. SVP of merchandizing Bob McKenzie noted that they are ahead of where the prior record holder, Modern Warfare 2, was last year. This revelation came in a press release from the retailer promoting its "Surprize Attack" sweepstakes aimed at driving even more pre-orders.
As for the "Surprize Attack" sweepstakes mentioned, the contest offers more than one million Black Ops-inspired prizes by the time the game releases. Pre-ordering the game from Gamestop—either online or in-store—provides gamers with a code that can be entered once a day on the Surprize Attack website for a chance to win in a daily drawing. Top prizes get pretty nice with things like a new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, a Harley Davison Iron 883, and other equally swanky loot. Complete rules and additional details are available on the official contest site.

Millions of copies will sell, millions of people will play. You get laughed at. The cycle repeats itself.
